Concept
The designers and engineers at Peugeot wanted to create a sports coupé in a class of its own. Striking, elegant and dynamic, the sleek lines of this compact car produce subtle plays of light, which serve to accentuate its shapely silhouette.
'Double Bubble' Roof
The curved ‘double bubble’ shape of the roof and glass rear window not only expresses technical proficiency, but also makes the RCZ one of kind. The roof has been lengthened to form a single, fluid, streamlined envelope with the rear window, thus optimising the aerodynamics.
Silhouette
Emphasised by its aluminium roof arches, the silhouette of the RCZ has been designed to maximise the vehicle’s dynamism. Side on, it stands proudly, displaying its firm and taut contours, with its prominent front wings, deeply sculpted sides and generously curved rear wings. The overall impression is one of power and strength.
Design
The RCZ sets itself apart with its unique style and by the attention paid to both the interior and exterior finish. The use of exceptional materials such as metal, in particular aluminium, carbon and leather blends harmoniously with the elegant, rounded body shape. This exclusive model with sophisticated details is indeed a vehicle with an identity all of its own.
Enveloping Bonnet
The RCZ has an enveloping bonnet, thus reducing the size of the front wings. This wide opening also enables easier access to the engine and the front wheel arches.
Wheels
The RCZ is equipped with 18-inch 'Original' alloy wheels as standard; 19-inch wheels, in different styles ('Solstice' or 'Sortilege') and colours such as matt black and midnight silver, are also available, and once again correspond perfectly with the sporty nature of the car.
Space and Aesthetics
Aesthetics combine with practicality. If you’re going away for a long weekend, the Peugeot RCZ offers space that you would not expect in a coupé. Its boot has a generous capacity of 384L.
Extra volume can be obtained by folding down the rear seat backrests, which increases the maximum volume of the boot to 760L.
Meticulous attention has also been paid to the style and finish of the boot with carpet and chromed securing rings as standard.
Dimensions
Each line has been refined and perfectly proportioned to create a sports coupé of great balance and harmony. The width-length-height ratio and the muscular and sculpted shapes define its athletic style and reinforce its dynamic and aerodynamic qualities for optimum road holding.

Interior style
The interior of the RCZ instantly immerses the driver in an environment that is sporty yet subtly exclusive. It evokes comfort and assurance and offers the driver unprecedented pleasure behind the wheel.
Comfort
New sensations abound in the RCZ. The stylish fascia panel offers a refined, uncluttered view. It is trimmed in a hi-tech, soft-feel material developed especially for this car.
Driving Position
The ergonomic driving position is ideal for savouring the RCZ's qualities on the road as well as the quality of its finish. The steering wheel fitted as standard is covered in fine leather enhanced with a collar in a satined chrome finish. The flat-bottomed wheel reinforces the dynamic styling of the interior.
In addition to its fluid, pure style, the design of the dashboard provides an unobstructed view of the outside. The lengthening of the low roof and short windscreen, in addition to the dynamic lines giving dimension to the cockpit layout, mean that the interior boasts a unique design and has an energetic feel.
The style of the instrument panel is particularly polished and the carbon tone of the dial backs is enhanced with laser cut and back-lit readings.
Premium Touches
The interior is second-to-none, through the use of high-tech equipment (bluetooth and USB connection, cruise control, dual zone climate control, electrically adjustable seats, JBL Hi-Fi system etc.), offering a wide degree of versatility for the enjoyment of both driver and passengers.
Whether in the detail of the double stitching or the use of chrome or aluminium inserts, each feature has been meticulously designed to evoke the exclusive world of motor sport. The clock located in the middle of the dashboard as well as the instruments with their background manufactured in genuine pressed metal are additional design features which only accentuate the sports car feel.
Upholstery
The standard dashboard is an innovation; its entire surface texture has a smooth, engineered and enhanced quality, which can be customised with an integral trim of fine Nappa leather, with an undeniably superior feel.
The seats boast a completely new construction which has been developed to offer the driver a particularly low, ergonomic position, in keeping with the high level of support and comfort that is typical of sports cars. Ideal for apprecicating the RCZ's road qualities, the wraparound seats with integral headrests mould around the front passengers while all of the controls are within easy reach of the driver.
The range comprises of a choice of two colours of leather (black and off-white), also available in premium (integral) leather which includes leather trimmed dash and upper door panels.
Performance
A symbol of driving pleasure, the RCZ offers a choice of state-of-the-art engines, which combine masterful engineering and compliance with the most rigorous environmental targets. With the aim of heightening all of the driver's senses, the RCZ is a dynamic yet responsible vehicle.
1.6 Turbo (115kW) Engine
This direct-injection turbo petrol Euro 5-compliant engine achieves a remarkable synthesis between performance (torque of 240 Nm at 1,400 rpm and 115kW at 5,800 rpm) and optimised combined cycle consumption (7.3L/100km and 168g/km of CO2). It is available with a completely new 6-speed sequential automatic gearbox.
2.0 HDi Turbo Diesel Engine
With a capacity of 1,997 cc, this Euro 5-compliant turbo diesel engine delivers power in abundance. To achieve such performance, it comprises an ECCS type next-generation combustion chamber as well as low inertia, variable geometry turbo compressor and a high-pressure pump. This block allows maximum advantage to be taken of the RCZ's road behaviour while keeping its consumption to a mere 5.3L/100 km in a combined cycle with 139g/km of CO2 emissions. This engine is available with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
1.6 Turbo (147kW) Engine
This brand new Euro 5-compliant engine pulls the entire main part of the car's chassis. With its maximum torque of 275 Nm at 1,700 rpm and its maximum power of 147kW at 5,500 rpm, the Peugeot RCZ has first-class acceleration (80 to 120 km/h in 6.5 seconds; 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds), while its combined consumption is 6.9L/100 km and CO2 emissions of 159g/km. This engine is available with a short-shift 6-speed manual gearbox.
Steering
The hydraulic power steering is configured to provide faultless precision and superb feedback.
Road-Holding
The RCZ demonstrates excellent road-holding ability, offering an increasingly pleasurable driving experience. The front suspension is an inverted pseudo MacPherson type assembly with an uncoupled anti-rollbar (on the 147kW version). The trailing-arm rear suspension has rigid arm joints. The vehicle's base and centre of gravity have been lowered to ensure better road-holding.
With the 1.6 turbo 147kW engine, the front suspension has a special lower anti-roll bar incorporated to make the car even more lively and agile.
Advanced Brakes
The braking system, designed to be powerful and hard-wearing, features generously-sized 302mm diameter and 26mm thick ventilated discs at the front. For the 1.6 turbo 147kW engine, this increases to 340x30mm. In all versions, the rear is fitted with 290x12mm brake discs.
The development of Bosch 8.1 ABS/ESP has also enabled braking stability when cornering to be improved by optimising its control instructions.
Finally, braking efficiency has been increased by means of Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) and Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), which controls dynamic distribution of the braking pressure on each wheel individually for optimised efficiency.
Environment
Dynamic performance and respect for the environment. Uniquely, the RCZ delivers both through innovative technologies, materials and construction. Lower emissions and a sports coupe do not normally go together. With the RCZ, fuel consumption is much lower than you would expect and CO2 emissions are exceptionally low.
HDI diesel technology
Peugeot's diesel engine technology, HDi FAP, means you can have a less polluting diesel engine that doesn't sacrifice power for improved fuel economy.
It's an important part of our future and that of the environment. The result? Fewer harmful emissions, greater fuel economy and surprising performance.
FAP particle filter
Every diesel engine generates particles. At Peugeot, we should know. Because we pioneered the use of particulate filters (FAP) in our diesels.
FAP reduces particle emissions to barely measurable levels before they can escape into the environment.
It works by trapping and burning these particles, which combine to form soot. What's more, the FAP particle filter is self cleaning and is virtually maintenance free, all without spoiling the performance of your RCZ HDi.
Consumption and emissions
Peugeot is committed to developing technologies to reduce both fuel consumption and emissions.
In the RCZ we offer smaller, more efficient engines. Our 2.0 HDi turbo diesel engine has a combined fuel consumption of just 5.3L/100km. That gets you over 1,000km from its 55 litre tank. Its CO2 emissions are a low 139g/km.
Euro 5 Emissions Standards
Continuing Peugeot's commitment to the minimisation of the environmental impact of its motor vehicles and significantly reducing fuel consumption, CO2 and other emissions, all the engines in the RCZ range already comply with the stringent Euro 5 emission standard.
Infact in July 2010 the Australian Government implemented the Euro 4 emission standard for new vehicles. Peugeot has had Euro 4 compliant engines across its passenger range in Australia since 2003.
Fuel economy world records
Peugeot is the proud holder of two Guinness World Records for fuel economy, both set using HDi diesel technology in the harsh Australian conditions.
Our first world record is the furthest distance travelled on a single tank - 2,348km (Melbourne to Rockhampton) from a 70 litre tank.
Our second record, breaking the record we already held, is for round Australia fuel economy. We travelled 14,580km averaging just 3.13L/100km from the 1.6 HDi engine.
Recycling
Worried about landfil? So are we. That's why at least 95% of every new Peugeot is now recyclable, including the metals, glass, fluids, plastic materials and rubber. And we're well on the way to creating the fully recyclable car.
Carbon sink project
Our commitment to the environment extends beyond our cars.
In 1998, we set up a major ecological sponsorship by helping to create a 'carbon sink' (an area of plant life specifically set aside and developed to absorb atmospheric CO2) in the Amazon. Over 2 million trees representing 50 different species have been planted, which will allow scientists to study the relationship between reforestation, absorption of CO2 and climate control.
Operation Carbon reflects the determination to fight as directly and effectively as possible against the increasing greenhouse effect.
Safety
Peugeot's goal is to offer customers peace of mind behind the wheel. For this reason, the brand's focus has been on ensuring that both the driver and any passengers are protected against danger.
Airbags
To ensure a high level of safety, the Peugeot RCZ is equipped with driver and passenger front airbags, the pressure of which adapts to the intensity of an impact, as well as two side airbags built into the structure of the seats.
ESP
As standard, the RCZ includes ESP® electronic stability control, comprising (except on automatic gearbox versions) Intelligent Traction Control - a high-tech anti-skid system that automatically regulates eaach of the two driving wheels according to their road hold - as well as, of course, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Emergency Brake Assist (EBA).
Pop-up Bonnet
The RCZ goes above and beyond when it comes to safety and security. The RCZ is equipped with a pyrotechnic pop-up bonnet to reduce the impact on pedestrians in the event of a frontal collision.
Spoiler
To guarantee stability when braking, the Peugeot RCZ features an adjustable spoiler, which self-adjusts in accordance with the vehicle's speed. This spoiler provides additional aerodynamic efficiency at the rear of the vehicle, improving its road adhesion.
